Poor Kimi goes down

Watched the F1 a few hours back. The race had a few accidents & the deepest felt one was Kimi's front right wheel going out due to vibration in the front suspension. All this in the penultimate lap with just 3 miles to go! Poor Kimi, my heart goes out for him. And Alonso had a lucky 4th win for this season. Schumi failed to impress as he went into the gravel once & finished 5th. Narain too couldn't get into the first 10 as he struggles with a poor car.

With Schumi & Ferrari outa form this season, which I think is in a way good for F1 what with drivers like Kimi & Alonso are giving a tough challenge to the master. One more thought I keep getting is what if this is all match fixing by the F1 bosses just like in football & cricket? lets see how the season progresses.

plan to blog about the ooty trip later.

The Hindu

Been thinking this over for sometime now. Can India's National Newspaper continue to be so naive about its online edition? It doesn't have a RSS or Atom feed yet! And it updates the major part of its site once a day. A small "Breaking News & Updates" section leads to the current news section. A plain news ticker runs too. The site is still java based. Don't know whether its arrogance, ignorance or negligence. Ram, are you listening?

rape/molestation news on indian tv

last nite, the indian news channels were full of rape news. a delhi female student was picked up by men in a car and was gang raped. they kept showing the dhaba area where the incident happened & the reporter repeated said that no Police patrol vehicle was there doing the rounds on the day after the incident happened. and then there was this case of two railway police constables being arrested when a 42 year old woman complained that she's been molested by these 2. they kept showing close-up shots of the 2 constables. it made a terrible site (even if they are criminals) with those 2 men covering their faces and one was apparently crying. this incident comes close on heels of another mumbai constable being charged with rape. the third case last nite was from patiala where a woman was tortured by the police to get a statement. these guys even interviewed the pitiable woman - she couldn't even speak and these guys have a headline that just said "STRIPPED BY POLICE". have to see whether these media guys have slotted late nite news for such episodes alone.

Tiger and Longhorn

Apple launched its new OS for its Mac machines named Tiger. But the name Tiger is already causing problems as companies plan to sue Apple on the name usage.

MS Longhorn will still take a long time to come & is scheduled for next year. At the recent 'Windows Hardware Engineering Conference', Bill Gates gave some insights of what Longhorn had on offer.

Btw, did you know where the name Longhorn comes from? Robert Scoble, in his blog says, "Longhorn got its name from the bar that's between Whistler and Blackcomb up in British Columbia."
